For the fourteenth consecutive year, NASDA produced the U.S. Food Export Showcase (USFES) in conjunction with the Food Marketing Institute’s (FMI) annual Supermarket Convention and Trade Show. The partnership, originally conceived based on recommendations from independent studies in the late 1980s, has succeeded by putting NASDA’s small- and medium-sized exhibitors on the same trade show floor as FMI’s retail oriented exhibitors and food industry giants. The resulting mix has been an effective draw for international food buyers from around the world. The 2006 edition of the USFES continued the upward trend from 2005, increasing net exhibit space by five percent. NASDA and FAS again joined forces to sponsor a significantly improved International Trade Center adjacent to the USFES. The Western U.S. Agricultural Trade Association (WUSATA) doubled the size of their 2005 pavilion for Western companies.
